FEU LAW Football Club Story

Year 2008, a victorious year for the FEU Tamaraw Football Teams. Recently the FEU Teams Tamaraws (Men's) and Lady Tamaraws (Women's) both delivered the championship trophy in this season’s UAAP Football tournament and thereafter the newly formed FEU LAW Football Team the Tamaraw Knights won as the 2008 Champion in the recently concluded Conflicts of Law Football Tournament by the Associations of Law Schools of the Philippines (ALSP).

After 71 years of waiting, a Tamaraw Law Football team is born. Maximum endeavor was exerted by the Far Eastern University Law Football Team in earning the Championship title in this 2008 season.

Before becoming the Champion the team faced lots of trials and challenges. It was a brilliant move by Giancarlo Capco, the Founder of the FEU LAW Football Club during the month of October 2007, when he introduced to the FEU Institute of Law Student Council the idea of forming a football club for the law students. The purpose of the club is to promote balance in studies and extra curricular activities. At first the response of the students are idle but through the use of advance marketing strategies eventually the skillful players in FEU Law representing different regions of the country rise up and joined the club.

Through continuous practice every Sunday of the weekends from October 2007 to February 2008, the club players gained enough experiences and skills. With the tune-up game of the club with different teams such as the Illongo Football Teams, the Korean Football Teams, LSM Teams and the Sovereign Football Club, the FEU Law Football Club players (Tamaraw Knights) acquired confidence to participate in the official matches.

The 2008 Conflicts of Law Football Tournament. After months of trainings the Tamaraw Law team prepared for the big event the “Conflicts of Law Football Tournament”. The FEU Administration and the FEU Law community gave their support to the team which made the team more confident to aim for the champion cup. Before the start of the tournament numerous negative comments such as newly formed team can not match the veteran team,, etc are given out by the audiences which challenged the emotional capabilities of the Tamaraw Law Team. But the Tamaraw Law team came to the battle prepared not just physically but also emotionally.

The Tamaraw Law Team Led by Founder-Team Captain-Giancarlo Capco fought with the veteran teams of San Beda Law Team, Lyceum Law Team, San Sebastian Law Team, Arellano Law Team.. etc. The event is a literal example of survival of the fittest due to the fact that it is a one day tournament which started from 8am and ended at 5pm. The tournament is a game of endurance and skills where the weaker teams were eliminated and only the strong teams were left standing and has the chance to become the year’s champion.

The title match for the Championship was between the FEU LAW Team and the San Sebastian Law Team and the battle for third was fought by San Beda Law Team and Arellano Law Team. The battle for third was won by the San Beda Law Team against the Arellano Law Team through a penalty shoot out.

During the Championship match between the Tamaraws Knights (FEU LAW) and the San Sebastian Recoletos (SAN SEBASTIAN LAW), FEU Law Team captain drafted a strategy together with the Tamaraw players and they agreed to strengthen the defense. The tower like strong defense by he Tamaraw Knights was one of the key factors that led the team to victory, the other factors were passion, faith and prayers. Attack by the opponent proved to be futile while game penetration was accomplished swiftly by the Tamaraw Law team.

In the 13th minute of the game, Tamaraw Knight Giancarlo Capco executed a throw in then the ball was touched by the Recoletos’ Defender inside the penalty area. The referee called a foul against the Recoletos Team and awarded a free kick to the Tamaraw Team. The Tamaraw Knight Ireneo Daya went for the free kick and made a goal. After the Tamaraw scored, they reinforced their defense to ensure that no chance for retaliation can be seized by the Recoletos. The Championship match was won by the FEU Law Football Team against the San Sebastian Law Team with the score of 1-0.

After the end of the match the Tamaraw Team shouted their battle cry “Tamaraw Knights! We Fight for the Law and Honor, FEU Law Team!!!”. Tamaraw Knight Jett Pano led the team’s prayer and the team gave thanks to the Lord for his blessings which made the Tamaraw Law Team victorious.

With these chain of victories and triumph from the back to back Championship title of the FEU men’s and women’s Football Team and the recent Championship title acquired by the FEU Law Football Team. We, the FEU Law Football Team agrees to the statement of the FEU Advocate that Rarity means a mark in history. 3 Championship titles in one year is rare but FEU Community can be used to it in these coming years.

Hi, I want to form a sustainable football club in my locality at BishwamverPur, Sunamgonj in Sylhet Bangladesh. Already dozens of good quality young players are selected, now the crux is financing them round the year and setting up code of conduct for bringing organisational discipline. Can you please suggest me as to that.

With thanks & regards.

Tofazzul.
